Once the autoresponder account is set up, advertising becomes the next order of business. Advertising covers a broad array of promotional options, but consider websites, newletters, classifieds, signature files of emails, business stationery and so on.
Websites
Advertising an autoresponder is very popular on the web. Post an email link or set up a form that triggers your autoresponder on your website. It works around the clock, without stop, like a 24-hour customer service representative.
Autoresponders are great for "digital" catalogues, specific product information, answers to frequently asked questions, free stuff such as courses, ezines or reports, special offers or (printable) "coupons", samples, demos or previews, agreements, contracts or proposals, transcripts and manuscripts.
Attachments can also be added to your autoresponses. Digital products like software can be purchased with get instant delivery. You can also advertise your autoresponder on pop-ups (i.e., small windows that pop-up when you enter or exit a website).
You can also practice reciprocal linking. In other words, you can exchange links with other webmasters. People will seldom stay or buy the first time when clicking on a link. But if your link is for an autoresponder that offers a free report, a free newsletter or a free email course, you can achieve better results. In other words, unlike with a URL which is clicked once, recipients of your
autoresponder emails are exposed to your website, business, product or offer more than once!
Autoresponders can also be promoted in banners, some pay-per-click search engines or even with your own affiliate program.
Newsletters/Op-in Lists
Promoting products to targeted, eager prospects is one of the most effective and productive forms of online marketing.
"Opt-in" email is composed of people who have asked to receive information on specific topics, so by its nature, opt-in email marketing is targeted. Advertising to other people's lists allows you to know, in advance, what type of audience they are.
Spam is not opt-in email, and it must be avoided. Practicing Spam can cost you your account, your website and your business. Opt-in email, on the other hand, is also called "permission marketing," since people are giving you the permission to promote to them. Stick with permission marketing at all times.
In Classified Ads
There are thousands of places to advertise, and all of them have different requirements for writing style. Classified ads vary in terms of size and length, depending on where they're published. Online, most ads are 65 characters in length, and about four to five lines deep. Being clear, highly visible and compelling is critical. Having a top spot is one important step. But another is to have great copy. Your ad must invite people to click it. Your choice of words can make a crucial difference.
In "Signature Files"
A signature file is add at the end of email messages automatically. They are usually a few lines that advertise you, your website or your autoresponder.
It’s a good idea to put your autoresponder email address in your signature file. Keep them to three to five lines long, so as to avoid have them appears as ads. The lines should identify you, your business and your link. Also, seek to keep it under 60 characters. You can use it to briefly promote a special offer, a free report, a website address, a free newsletter and so on. Like classified ads, the copy is very important. Business Stationery
Add your autoresponder address on all of your offline printed materials, including business cards, letterhead, yellow page ads, brochures, etc. If you have collateral materials, if you advertise in print publications, and if you do direct mail marketing, then maximize your autoresponder's visibility in them.
Remember that people do not respond to online ads during company time for a variety of reasons, so promotion offline is an important addition to the overall strategy.
Don't forget to promote something for free in order to encourage your offline prospects to email you. Remember, since they're offline they have to go through the extra effort in emailing you.
"Viral Marketing"
"Viral marketing" has become very popular. A viral marketing message is one that spreads from email to email, or email to web, like a virus. These emails spread typically because someone likes the contents and sends them on to family, friends or co-workers. If you create this kind of "buzz," your message will spread like wildfire.
